I wondered if there is supposed to be a seal of some kind that goes between the stanchions and the scuttle. As you can see, mine came without...but wanted to check before I put them back on.

Thanks

John

Earlier cars with the Dzus button stanchions did have a seal of sorts in that area. But I don't think the later cars like yours did.

John,
Not sure if one was there originally but I used a thin (1/8") sheet of neoprene with spray on 3M adhesive. Good luck. Pat

Thanks Pat,

I like that idea...the metal against fresh paint makes me cringe, even if it was the original way!

I have found the Spare Parts Catalog to be fairly accurate and no seal or gasket is shown.

Yes John I felt the same way. I made a couple of gaskets out of some thin vinyl, but they were too much and had to take them off and go with metal against paint. At least you are a painter. On the older cars the screen comes off without much difficulty, but I had some problems getting that windscreen on the newer one. Mine might have been tighter than normal because of some body work in that area, but your car looks like an unmolest one, so you might not have the same problems. I used new screws with nice cleanly chased threads and had difficulty getting the forth screw to start. I blue taped all the upper area and spread grease everywhere to help things wiggle. I loosened up the screws on the side to give some more wiggle, and I had 2 good skilled men helping and still struggled. We finally got it, and I do not want to take it off to look cool. I had the mirror off also, and putting that back on with the screen on is also a challenge.
