I'm putting back my Tr3 engine together. My crank shaft end play is excessive (0.010"instead of 0.004"-0.006"). The actual trust washers measure each 0.090". To figure out if they are worned or if I need to buy oversized, DOES ANYBODY HAS THE NOMINAL THICKNESS OF A STANDARD TRUST WASHER???

thanks

Afternoon Yvan:

Couldn't find a standard thrust washer in my shop but found one that is .005 oversize. Measured it at .098, which I feel we can safely accept that a "standard" would be .093 so yours would be .003 below or worn by .003. Moss sells standard, .005. They show an .008 but they say that it is NA.

If you need more info you might call Ken Gillander at British Frame and Engine in CA. His number is on his web site. I think it is https://www.britishfasmeandengine.com I know it is spelled wrong but trust me it will get you to his site. He has a world of knowledge about the tractor engine.

Are you using a dial indicator to measure your crank end float?

Good Luck, Tinkerman

EDIT: When you do call Ken, be prepared with any other questions you may have. He loves to talk Triumph stuff. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
