TR2/3/3A TR3 Tranney Cover

I have bolted down my tran, cover on my tr3 and just realized that there is no hole cut in it to check and fill the transmission. Is there anyone here that has the cover off? Or who can get to it easily to give me a measurement from the fire wall in to the center of their hole and from the bottom up so I can cut one on mine. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
greg

Greg-

If you don't get a response later today, I might be able to help you when I get into the garage tonight. I have a couple covers off, pretty sure at least one has that hole - I can take a picture with some tape measurements if needed.

Thanks, Randy it would be a big help. I don't want to have to remove the cover just to check or add fluid. I wonder why some has the hole and mine dosen't?

The dipstick was deleted at TS50k; the hole in the tunnel disappeared not long after. Sounds like you have a tunnel from a later car.

Greg,

As a backup, both of mine are in the garage handy. If need be, I can take a photo and some measurements as well. It's a race Randy!

But then again, mine are both post 60000 cars and may not have the holes....can't remember off the top of me head.....
Cheers,

Here's a snapshot of the cover with some reasonably close measurements:

Just let me know if you need another reference shot or measurement.

Pied- you can beat me on actually doing real work on a car, but for just messing around in the garage I'm pretty quick!

Come to think of it, the tunnel pressing was modified right at TS50k, to clear the enlarged starter bulge. Probably the hole was deleted at the same time.

Anyone know different?

Too darn cold out in the garage tonight and I feel lazy....no amount of undercoating scraping will cheer me up tonight. Thanks for taking the pics Randy  Sometimes when I go out to the garage I stay there for much longer than anticipated.....

Cheers,
M. Pied Lourd

Here is the hole on my early TR3A where the oil fill hole (and dip-stick) is up on the RHS of my tunnel. This would also be for the TR2 and TR3s.

And this is how I did the hole in the tunnel for the late BRG TR3A I finished in 2006 where the fill hole for the gearbox is over on the LHS of the tunnel.
