TR2/3/3A TR3 TRailer

I have acquired the rear half of a TR3 to turn into a trailer to tow behind my TR3. My intent is to join the front clip of a TR3 about where the rear seat should be. The front and rear fenders will be joined and attached.

The issue will be once I have it assembled, most of the trailer will be behind the wheels, creating a rear heavy trailer.

Has anyone built something like this? Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking about a large quantity of lead, but I'm open to suggestions.
 
So your going to do a tandem trailer front and rear clip, I'll fool around in photoshop and see waht I can figure out.
 
I've seen a couple of these, the esthetics won't be hard. I'll look forward to your photoshopped prototype.

What I'm concerned with is the roadworthiness of the finished product.
 
You're right that too much weight in the rear will cause terminal trailer sway.

Have you considered altering the interior floor so that the loadable portion of the trailer is over and forward of the the axle. Then the rear trunk area is partially void at the back and just for asthetics (and weight balance) i.e. build with only the front 1/2 of the trunk floor.

There must be an equasion also for the length of the tongue and how it affects the load balance.

I have dreams of a bugeyetrailer, I know where a fiberglass front is. Time will tell.

I may do a combination of added weight in front of the axle and having a void section where nothing would be placed in the far rear section.
 
Why not stretch the bit in front of the wheels a bit. Put a bit more of the front wheel well / front end on ( bit further forward than the wheel well shape would call for), and then fill in the wheel well a bit to make it the proper shape. It would be better balanced and have a better "visual" balance by moving the wheel closer to the center.
 
A tr6 with trailer was just on ebay last week or 2 ago. He went on in the ad about a counter wieght system for the trailer to track straight. Too bad the ad ran out.
 
I'm sorry, but every LBC that I have ever seen that had an abbreviated little LBC trailer behind it looks terrible.

I have seen where someone bought one of those U-Haul molded fiberglass trailers, the ones that the rear looks like the tail of an old Camaro, and refurbished it to match his car. Looked really sharp. Plus, it was designed to work.

Just me.
 
A 100 pound counter balance on the hitch bar? Takes away from the overall effect.
 
Rather than a 100 lbs counter weight on the trailer tongue and/or moving the wheel back, I'm thinking about extending the wing in front of the wheel well about 8 or 10 inches and adding some lead weight inside the sheet metal in that space. I will have to play with it to determine how much weight.
