Well, I finally got the tonneau cover in place. It was a royal PITA, and I'm not totally happy with the outcome, but it will work OK. I had two problems that I encountered, one I was able to deal with, the other turned out to be a best compromise.
The first problem encountered was that the cover itself was really too short. I know everyone says they shrink, but this is brand new, and there was just about no way to make this thing fit, especially front to rear. So, looking for every possible advantage, I decided to rotate the Lift-the-Dot fasteners 90 degrees at the back and at the windscreen. That gave me about an 1/8" extra length on each end (1/4" total), which was just about enough to get the tonnneau in place. I lost the extra support at the back of the fastener, but what I gained was ease of taking the tonneau off, especially at the windscreen, because the "lift" part of the Lift-the-Dot is along the side rather then up against the windscreen.
The second problem I never really fixed. That was getting the tonneau to lay flat on the drivers side. No mater which way I stretched out the cover. I never could get rid of all the wrinkles. I think the steering wheel addition has something to do with that. I also have a smaller then stock wheel, so it doesn't push up that section of the cover. Nobody will notice while I'm driving the car, so I can live with it.
