For my Tr3, I have Tr6 wheels (5.5") freshly painted and am planning on getting some 195-65 put on Monday for all but an original wheeled spare. Anyone have suggestions? I have black tr6 centers that i plan to fit with the original hub cap centers.

I should be behind the wheel Monday afternoon.
 
I was thinking about fitting my TR3 with 195/65-15s on a set of 6" Panasports. If you do it, let me know how they fit and feel.

If you have Discount Tire (tires.com) you can get the GT Radial Champiro in the 195/65 15 for $62 oer tire. I have the same tires in 17" on my Avalon daily driver and you'll never find a better tire for less than twice the price. They have won plenty of comparo tests. Not a big name, but great tires.
 
Don't remember the price, but the Vredestein Sprints were great on the TR3 I had several years ago.
 
The Vredestein Sprint Classics are a great tire. The guys over at the vintage section of the Ferrari Chat forum love them. I have a set on my TR3 in the 185/70HR15 size, but they are not cheap.

Coker tire lists that size currently at $160 each. I remember paying Hendrix wire wheel about $150 each a couple of years ago.

I went to Discount tires, got 4 GT Radials in 195/65 and a 165/80 -that did not fit in my pre-60k spare tire compartment. Went back and got a "temporary" spare (with greater load attributes) 125/70 that fits in the well easily. So far so good. Drove another 20 miles yesterday until the Toyota conversion linkage fell apart (apparently I failed to use loc-tite, or failed to clean off the oil before using it). Spoke with Herman last night, fixed it today and I'm headed for the road.

So I have 5 better than new tires, mounted, balanced and warranted from road hazards for under $400.
 
Glad you like the GT Radials. I sure have been happy with them, and I think I've owned every type of tire brand known to man (Michellin, Pirelli, Goodyear, Yokohama, BFG, Firestone, Dunlop, Bridgestone, Continental, Cooper, Les Schwab Wild Country all come to mind immediately on cars I have right now or have recently owned...I even had a MGB GT with tires that were listed as being manufactured in the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD -- or West Germany to the rest of us.) Nothing like knowing the tires you're driving on must be made pre-1990.
 
I have had Vredestein 165 - 15 Sprint tires on my 1958 TR3A for almost 10 years. I love them. Two months ago, I got a deep road cut in the tread. The knife blade was still in the tire and when I folded back the tread, I could see the wires. So I tried to get a replacement tire. At least to finish this season and order 4 new ones in the spring. But it seems that Vredestein (made in Holland) stopped making summer tires and all their production is geared up for winter tires. So I bought a 2 year old Gumho to finish this summer and I'll order 4 new Vredesteins next March as I will never drive on tires 10 years old or older. BTW the ones on my TR are S rated and I paid $300.00 for 4 of them 10 years ago, balanced and mounted. The expensive ones mentioned above are the ones with the higher speed rating. The ones they sell now are T rating so I'll be paying between what I paid 10 years ago and the expensive ones noted above.

Yeah, prices have gone up and (I think) import duties may have been raised too. Cheapest I've seen for the Sprints are here at $103 @. They do seem to have a few still in stock.
 
Better reply late than never.
Sparing no expense, I went with Michelin Primacy MXV4 195/65R15 on Dayton 60 spoke chrome wires. No regrets!
Front has SPAX adjustable shocks that I am still fiddling with. Currently at 14 out of 28 and I'd like to dial back to around 6-8.
The wee nob is hard to get at between the springs.
