TR2/3/3A TR3 tires and rims

Among the things I am getting with the TR3 are appears to be two extra set of old rims and tires. Since I am new to this style of vehicle etc. Where is the best place on the net to sell these? Thanks.

Assuming they are steel rims, 3 concerns...

1. Old rims are often out of true from curb collisions and general use. You may be able to mount them on a front hub and measure run-out to see if they are good which may encourage buyers.

2. Shipping can make the purchase unworkable by combining buyers who don't want to pay that much with a seller who wants more. Alternative is to try to find a local buyer who will pick-up (and perhaps pay more as there is no shipping).

3. No one in their right mind will want old tires and if you do ship with the tires on it will just add weight and cost... better to remove the tires if you can (fortunately with our tall sidewalls it isn't to tough to get a tire off the rim).

If they are wire wheels there are additional concerns.

As to Geo's comment #1, I'd add - make sure the wheels you have are straight before you sell off the spares. I had about a dozen, I think one was passable. I'm going with alloys!

Yes, I have a set of steelies on the car for rolling it around. I have a set of four slot alloys for the car with radials that will fit it in good shape, lower its stance and give more traction. The other two sets are sitting in piles. I am not really sure as to condition yet as I have not pulled them out of the barn yet. But they are steel wheels. I still have not made up my mind on the car yet, so I know I need to keep a set with it anyways. I do not even know how the rubber is on the tires yet without pulling them out. Just asking wich direction to turn with them. On here, craigs list Ebay or what.If the tread is good, I am sure someone might want them, so would offer with or without the tread. If the tread is bad, it would naturally be without the tread. Thanks.

IMO, finding someone local would be better, as they aren't really worth what it costs to ship them any distance. Local Triumph/Brit car club would be my first choice.

And it is the age of the tire more than the tread left that is usually the limiting factor. A google search will turn up a site that describes how to read the date of mfg on the sidewall.

Here's one of the better ones IMO https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11&

BTW, this tire still had roughly 50% tread
