TR2/3/3A TR3 temp sensor hole plug?

Hi all,
Any suggestions on what I can use to temporarily plug the threaded hole for the temp sensor on a TR3? I do not have an original, so I would like to plug the hole so I can work on some debugging while I search out a proper replacement. Will a TR6 sensor fit?

Thanks

I believe that I've seen some suggestions on here to use an early TR4 electric temperature gauge and sending unit as those gauges have the same design as the TR3 gauges. (curved glass and fully exposed needles).

Another possibility is a cheap 2" mechanical gauge from your local auto parts. The Sunpro I picked up fit perfectly, except I had to connect the wire for the light into the dash lights.

I think this is the same gauge at Amazon (got mine at Pep Boys):

If you go with the TR4 gauge, you'll also need a voltage "stabilizer" or otherwise it will read high (and vary with whether the generator is working or not).

Thanks guys. I picked up a guage assembly at Napa today for 17 bucks. Never would have guessed an auto parts store would have something for this car, let alone in stock and affordable.
