TR2/3/3A TR3 Tapping Plate ????

According to the post in the link below some TR3's containned a tapping block in lieu of captive bolts on the A pillar to secure the hinge. Was the plate itself welded to the A pillar. If it was free floating it would hold the hinge in place once the screws were tightened. This was implemented to make door alignment easier.

Is this accurate? https://www.triumphexperience.com/phorum/read.php?6,3925

My car is 60732 and has a plate for each hinge. The plate "jiggles" to allow adjustment of the hinge.

Now this shows I'm getting old. I was wrong...my hinges are captive nuts. The plate was for the latch. oops...

ISTR they are captive nuts on my cars as well. But the nuts are loose inside their cages, so there is a small amount of adjustment available.
