TR2/3/3A TR3 Steering Box Cover Upgrade?

I understand that Revington sells a modified TR3 steering box cover with a spring-loaded pin in place of the solid adjustment screw.

I was wondering if members here have any experience with this - is it worth doing?

Also, how easy or difficult to install - I've never replaced the steerng box cover on this car before.
 
You may want to check British Frame and Engine... They also carry one for $75.00... May save you a lot of postage.. I don't know how they work as I went with rack and pinion.
 
I haven't used one, as I've changed over to rack and pinion steering. But, from what I've read, they are supposed to be very good. You might want to give Ken at British Frame and Engine a call. He list's the part (scroll down to the chassis parts on that link I gave) and can give you good info on it's benefits. He's very knowledgable and loves to talk TR's. He's the original owner of a TR2!

I bought mine from Protec in England in 1992. I installed it and it's a miracle. It took all the slop out the steering. I've driven about 85,000 miles with it since then. Ken Gillanders sells them from BFE in Temple City, Calif. but I think Herman also makes them. Herman is at : - https://www.hvdaconversions.com
 
I got one from Herman van den Akker.

It's not a cure for a box that really needs to be rebuilt but it helps tighten up a loose unit.

Installation is straight-forward, probably easier if you remove the drivers side horn first. In the case of Herman's you will need to return your old top plate as a core.
