TR2/3/3A TR3 steel wheels

I have the same 60mph vibration as others in the balancing wheels thread.
After balancing and shaving new Vredestiens 165/15 at a shop that specializes in british sports cars about 9k ago the wheels were impoved but still noticeable vibes in the sweet range.
My wheels are all within the .1 spec at about .05-.08 but the lateral run out is probably the cause.
So,I don't want wires,What are my new wheel options ?Minilites,panasports,although not crazy of the look,or since I would probably also get new tires would a steel tr6 wheel be easier to find new or round,and what size tires would work and would my hub caps fit(I really like my original hub caps)
I also saw an alloy that looks like the steel wheel but forget where.

Tom,
The early (69 only) TR6 had the long studs for the Rostyle hubcap. It will also let you use the TR3/4 hubcaps on the three studs as well. I have an extra set. Can't guarentee who straight they are. One thing to remember. The TR3 rim is the only triumph rim that will fit inside the spare tire compartment.

One option, especially if retaining the factory hubcaps is important (I'm with you on that), will be simply to buy as many original Triumph wheels as it takes to get a good set. I've run into issues with lateral runout several times - more often than radial runout. Hopefully, with a majority of TR folks heading toward wire wheels or Minilites (and clones), there will be many original Triumph disc wheels around to select from. I once saw a guy build a fence out of them.

I have a set of TR6 steel wheels on mine. I also installed a set of the black plastic (TR6) centers, and mounted the original hub-cap center to the plastic center. I know it's not a hub cap, but I really like the closine world badge. The TR6 wheels are wider and allow wider tires, but I can't say the car has no vibrations -but it's ok.

I use one of those toy spare tires mounted to the original wheel stuffed into the compartment and have a luggage rack to carry the flat, assuming I ever get one.

It drives me crazy to know Dorman makes steel wheels for all kinds of modern cars, at very reasonable prices.

I emailed them a couple of years ago, to see it they had any interest in a Triumph steel wheel project; never heard back from them.

I even emailed Charles Runyon at TRF about this, no answer.

i would love to buy modern steel wheels, with the three "acorns" for the hubcaps, for my TR3.

The "unbalanceable" 60 mph vibration on my TR3 went away when I replaced bushings and trunnion.

I wish some manufacturer would see enough demand to make new ones.I would gladly pay as much as alloys for new steels
Still looking for the alloy steel copys I saw,cant rember if they had hub cap mounts but I don't think so.
