Speedo on my TR3 has to warm up to work at all and will not indicate over 20 mph in any case, although the indicated speed is proportional to road speed. Adjusting screw got it raised to the mentioned 20mph, but that's it. Anyone know a repair facility?

What adjusting screw?

Lots of places work on them; here's a couple I have handy:

Looking at the speedo from the rear, immediately left of the cable is a slot head screw. There is a hole in the retaining bracket to provide access. Is my 30 year old recall of its function faulty?
Bob

Nope, not an adjustment! Nisonger will also work on them, but they're not cheap.

Oh, it sounds like the grease in the unit has hardened, so a good cleaning may be all it needs. If that doesn't fix it, then the magnet has likely weakened over time. Luckily it can be re-magnetized by a speedo shop.

Well if reads at all that is good thing because the main spring is not broken. In the day and I was at a swap meet, the to test to see if it was worth buying cheap as a possible good one was to hold it in your hand, and twist your wrist. If it bounced back, the main guts were in tacked. I would try and fix yours by removing the front glass and the two screws in the back to see if the rubber grommets have dissolved and got on the cup. You can clean that with brake clean. I say this because when you send yours off to get fixed, they often send back one that is a rebuild off the shelf. I have remove the jewel workings in many and got them working fine. It is a little complicated, but not that bad.
