TR2/3/3A TR3 Smiths Heater Plate

My sandblaster messed up the id plate on my Smiths heater. While a repro plate is available, TRF will not stamp the new plate with the correct numbers. In my case the numbers as follows:

Code: HR2406 / 01
Model: R250
Voltage: 12


Anybody know where to get the numbers stamped? I really don't want to invest in a set of punches for a one-off usage.

How about someone like a jeweler? I would think anyone with an engraving machine could fix you up pretty quickly.
 
I have a 1/4 inch set of stamps and did my own. Ugly! I would guess a trophy company would be able to do it for you. Least wise that where I'm going to get my VIN number on my plate for the car. Not sure that they can stamp them though. Engraving is considerably different from stamping. Worth a shot though.

It does take some practice. I used aluminum flashing pieces from HD to practice on. Best result was clamping a piece of wood to act as a guide on the bottom. You'll have to practice on how hard to tap. I tried putting the practice plate on my cast iron table saw, on oak and maple wood and it's all different. I ended up using hard maple as the backing.

Make pencil marks on a piece of masking tape placed over and above the plate to mark the start of each letter. Keep the punch fully vertical to get an even impression. Tap lightly several times and don't move the punch until done.
