Several days ago I was headed to my daughter's house in Reidville and passed an early red TR3 with narrow mouth grill on Berry Shoals Road about to cross Berry's Pond. Nice car with nice sound. Anybody on this board?

Howdy Billspit,

There is a gent in Greenville by the name of "Eric" (Last name need not be displayed). He has a really nice "RED" `57TR3 Small Mouth with "Tan Interior" & Wire Wheels. I have a pic of his car with "Brooklands" Installed. I`ll try and get it posted here but ??????

What does 100KB equal in "Pixels" so I can get this pic put on here?

He and His TR3 will be at "Euro" tomorrow.

That sounds like the car.

I can't help with posting a picture. I still can't do it myself.

I hate to say it, I'm going to miss Euro again this year. It always seems to fall on Clemson home games.

Hello. I heard from Russ at the Eurofest about this post.

I live in Spartanburg, work in Greenville and use Reidville Road to get from one to the other so I would assume that you saw me. I certainly try and get her on the road regularly. The weather has been great recently.

Looks like you are in Spartanburg as well. Send me a PM or email or something if you'd like to swing by. I'm usually working on my house on the weekends.

By your name I am assuming you have a Spitfire? I'd like to see that as well.

BTW, It was great to finally meet you Russ. Keep up the good work on your small mouth. She's gonna look alot better than mine when you get done.

Howdy Eric & Billspit,

It was nice meeting yourself @ Euro as well. What a great show! Glad to hear you folks may be getting together to pehaps do some wrenching.

You gents should check out our local club: www.fbcc.com (Foothills British Car Club); If your not members already. There`s a monthly meeting ea. "2nd" Tues. of the month @ "FATZ" in Easley on RT. 135. "All" are welcome & you need not be a member to visit.

Once my TR is done; Perhaps "Next Season" we can all get together & do some back road cruisin out by me. There`s a local gent in "TR" (Travelers Rest) by the name of "Fred" (Great Mech) who has a `62Midget; A gent in "Pumpkintown" by the name of "David" aka "Gundy" on this forum who has a `60 Bugeye; A gent who lives off on RT.288 near "Pumpkintown" (Gary) who has an "MGA" & the list goes on.

In case you can`t feel the vibes here; I can`t wait till next season!!

See Y`All Later,

Russ

I saw your red TR3 traveling on Reidville Road as well while stopped turning onto Caldwell Circle by Fowler’s Drycleaners. I also saw your car at Euro. I had my TR6 at Euro as well. I believe your TR3 was the first in the Triumph row. It may have been second in the row because if I recall the TR3 with the brooklands may have been the first TR3. Age and memory is becoming a problem. My TR6 was the red one with the triple carb setup.

Hey Bill, Clemson won so maybe your excused from Euro this year...

Big6,

Sorry I didn't get to talk with you at the show. Mine is the one with the Brooklands screens so you are correct, it was the first one on the row. I saw your car. That is a sweet setup. I drove a TR6 during college (still got it, but she needs ALOT of help which I don't have time for right now) so I was drooling over your engine bay.

I see you've got a Healey as well...very nice.

Sounds like we need to have a Spartanburg get together one morning or afternoon.

I finally got the spare bonnet out of the way so i can now move the 64 Spit. I need to move it to my daughter's place in Reidville so i can move the 80 inside at home and get the engine in and running.

Eric
You went by me so fast the other day I was almost in shock.

We all need to get together sometimes.

I don't know what you are talking about, I always obey the posted speed limits... :driving:

I didn't mean to imply you were speeding. You were coming around a curve toward me. I was making a left turn in front of you. Halfway through the turn you appear coming around the curve. It was kind of surreal, since I've been looking to replace the TR3 I sold 25 years ago.

With a Spitfire obeying the speed limit isn't too hard unless you are going through a school zone.

Don't worry, just giving you a hard time.

Driving through the corners (at reasonable and legal speeds) is one of the most enjoyable aspects of these cars as you well know. Gotta have fun where you can.

If you like driving corners you live in the best place I have found. I have sleighed the dragon at Deals Gap that in my opinion is lame compared to this geographic area in the great US of A.

I may be a little off with the route numbers but I have two loops I regularly drive. I start going up 176 off I26 to Inman and turn left onto highway 11. I continue turning off 11 going to Caesar’s Head on highway 276. (Watch out for the guys on bicycles!) After turning east at Brevard on 276/64 I will either continue on 276 up the hill past sliding rock to the Parkway or continue on 64 to Hendersonville. If I go to the Parkway I head west and exit at route 215 (18 miles of curves) then 64 east to 178 south that takes me back to highway 11. Or, if I go to Hendersonville I take 176 to Saluda down the winding road to Tryon then back to Inman.

Another good drive is north on 221 going to Marion, NC. I take old 221 to the Parkway. A very good BBQ is found at the intersection of old 221 and the parkway at Little Switzerland. I go north on the Parkway and exit at route 221 going south. At the base of Black Mountain is another excellent place to eat that usually has fresh baked sour dough rolls with BBQ sandwich. Then back down 221 to Spartanburg. While on the Parkway I have driven back roads to Blowing Rock or going west on narrow roads thru Boone and ending at a very nice mountain park outside of Bristol, TN.

Just depends on how much seat time you can endure at one time. My wife continues to remind me that when the “ass-o-meter” has expired we had better be back home.

If you like we can get together some Sunday morning and hit the hills…

Wouldn't you have more fun driving it in a car?

You are absolutely correct. Winter weather would make it easier to have sleighed down the dragon and probably had more fun. Wasn't much fun in the summer however. Skiing down the dragon will be even more fun. I’ll have to plan a trip to western NC this winter. At 5:00am is probably no time to compose an inspired response… I’ll attempt to use the correct word next time but is not likely. I am a dragon slayer and have the T-shirt to prove it! I didn't even leave any parts on the tree of shame. This response is about as lame as the drive…

I feel for ya.

On some occasions I just can't come up with a clever response quickly.

Like the time the Morgan Club president said to me, "I understand some Triumphs use Morgan engines."

I had nothin'.
