Hi Guys
I just installed the roll bar (that I hope to never use) and would like your expert thoughts and advice. Something is just not right to me. Color, height or just doesn't work with this car. What do you guys think?

Could be just the color Tinman but Peter's looks less angular and there's not an angular bit to a TR3....I'd paint it a flat satin black.
Will that fit under a hood?
I doubt you'll worry about the esthetics if you need it though.

Chrome or satin black. Copy the pic into paint and see if you like it.

Nice TR!

The best thing about my rollbar is the high mounted third brake light. I used to have P/U trucks and SUVs screaming up behind me when I turned into my driveway. Now with the flashing third brake light, they see me much more betterer (I hope they do anyway)

Hi Tinman58, A TR-3 is a hard car to build a roll bar for. Does your car have a flat rear passenger seat area? Those look to be easy to install a rollbar in. My hot rod TR-3 is an early model and I haven't found a roll bar design that looks sturdy enough. I have two concerns, being hit from the side and rolling my car because of the skinny tires. I restored an installed a steel hardtop hoping that with it properly bolted in, it would give me some added protection. Roll bars get scuffed and banged up, and after a couple of years start to look scruffy. A light color scuffs realy stand out, Powder coating is cheap and very durrable, dark colors (black) are less noticable. Good Luck, Bill C. Mesa, Az

A TR3 is s right swine to put alegal roll bar in as they must mount to the frame, not body metal and they must also be full width. That means some fancy bending for the main hoop and some holes in the body for rear braces.

If it is for the street, I suppose anything is better than nothing, but I've seen bars that were very poorly designed.
