Hi guys;
Is there a standard spacing for the hood straps on the hood frame? Should I assemble the top, and then guess fit them?

What goes under the door capings.
Seems like a 5/8 heater hose nailed/screwed in place would work.
Car is a late TR3.

Emmett-

Check out Teri Ann Wakeman's website. Setting up the hoodstick spacing is just one of the useful tidbits she has there.

No need for nails or screws; the capping will hold it in place just fine. I ran for many years with a length of garden hose in there, wrapped in cotton batting from a fabric store. A little firmer than heater hose, but heater hose would probably work as well. OTOH the foam cores P/N 559365 are on sale @ TRF for $4.91 each (ends today!).

I installed my straps to match the top, seemed to work out well. One mod that I recommend is to leave the rearmost bow not attached to the straps. That way when the top is cold and stiff, you can erect the bows leaving the rearmost one folded and have enough slack to install the top. Then push the bow into place to tighten it up. If it doesn't go all the way at first, go ahead and drive. Once the top warms up, push the bow back into place.

Thanks Randy and Randall;

Got the door cappings on: worked great-

The hood is another matter.My top, having been stored in a box for the last 15 years has shrunk. Beyond hope-

I saw a post about a zip out rear window top. In everflex I believe.
Any opinions on this product?
Who offers them?
Thanks guys, Emmett

Emmett- I think LBCarCo offers zippered windows for earlier TRs - I positive on the TR4, maybe TR3s as well.

I got mine from lbcarco (TR3A with zip-out window) that has a small shop in UK make them to order. Mine took nearly a year and is still in the box because I haven't had the time when the weather is warm enough to work with it.

Emmett,
I have a LBCARCO hood with zip out. I like it very much and it's very handy. No problems with the zipper, can be unzipped/zipped with the top taut and very nice for a hot day. The zipper is under the flap/overhang so not seen and should be weather tight.
