TR2/3/3A TR3 Rear Fender Alignment at Front Edge

Hmmm. I never noticed this before - but it seems the front of the rear fender hangs below the rocker - by 3/8" - 1/2" . I grabbed 2 pix off the net of nice looking cars that show what I'm trying to say. I assume this is correct? Can someone confirm. Thanks in advance.

But then I see this picture, and now I'm not sure which is right. Or if variation like this is to be expected?

The black TR is correct. The fender should be flush at the stone guards. But if the fenders are not a good fit that would be the area to make the adjustment.

Mine are flush, however, the beading does stick past about 1/4". I suppose I could cut it off.

Ha.....I am guessing that first pic is a TR2 or early TR3 because it has no door handles....I see the difference.....I will be paying attention to that whilst I am fitting the parts.

When I posted the pix I made them too small. In full size format it is more obvious....single-click on the first pic to blow it up....I suspect other TR pix are similar, but can't get 100% definitive pictures. Hence my question. Not sure why the second one is not a clickable link but it works as a copy/paste.....

It's because the URL doesn't start with "www.".

One way around that is to switch to the advanced reply screen, and explicitly enter it as a URL. You can use the URL as the text tag, then it appears like so:

BTW, the rear fenders fit flush on TS13571L. Here's a shot from before I took it apart:

Hi Don - I agree totally. But I can post pictures of a bunch more cars I've seen where they don't - all have the same difference of somewhere around 1/2" or so. Strange.

If the stone guard was removed from the wing you may find that it's flush with the dogleg. The replacement guards have to be fitted to the car. That might be where the step is coming from.

Well I just went out and looked at both rear wings with out the guards installed and both of them extend about 1/8" below the dogleg. With the guards installed I can see how it would be easy to have an 1/4" step. I will still try to make them flush in the end though. Much cleaner looking.
