TR2/3/3A tr3 radiator

Hi all I am back working my tr3 and was wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to undo brazing. I took a radiator into our local shop to have it record and the owner said the neck on the top was repaired by brazing, and he was right, clearly it was. Anyway he was real adamant about not using it. However, it is the original radiator, so I tried to grind of the brass and have had some success. But, sometimes my stubbornness is not a virtue. Suggestions are appreciated.

I'm missing something : Why is it necessary to 'undo' the brazing on the neck? Is the tank also brazed to the core?

But I agree with Andy, it's probably easier to find to find a usable top tank.

Hi all, sorry it took so long to get back. I do not have a computer right know at home. Anyways, yes Andy that would be fantastic; I will introduce you to my sister. Well I guess Randle it is the crappie job that the brazier did. There is this globed on mess all around the neck and it runs down onto the top tank and kinda fused the whole thing together. What I did was take him in another radiator but it was an aftermarket form perhaps the 70s and it just looks wrong. The neck is higher and the tank does not have those right angles at the top, perhaps because it got hot once. Anyways, Andy I sure hope you have one that would be very cool. You can send me an email at sp53@u.washington.edu

I am trying to get this thing going and I was curious if anybody out there might have a top tank for a tr3 radiator they would like to sell?

Sounds good Marv. I have not heard anything from Andy perhaps he could not find one. I think his most recent love is the Herald. Yes let me know.

Thanks Steve

Hey Marv it looks like it is official that Andy does not have a top tank for a tr3 radiator so if you can find one in your stuff that you want to sell please let me know.

Sorry to not get back sooner, Steve. You're essentially correct. I do have a couple, but I've not had a chance to thoroughly examine them. Plus they're still attached to what's left of radiators. By the time I figured out how to either economically ship an entire junk radiator cross-country in hopes that the top tank is ok, or take a Sawz-All to the thing and then ship what's left, you'd hopefully have one closer (or at least "guaranteed" better)!

And Heralds are not just my "most recent love"; they're really my first (0k, second after the Triumph 10) love!

Thanks for looking and finding one Andy. I do not mind paying the shipping; I just wish I had something you wanted. I have no Herald stuff. However, I do have a friend that is a Herald guy. You might know him by his eBay name Mrtr3. He drives a Herald. Anyways it looks like you are my best prospect right now, so if you can get a high end ball park shipping price, I am cool with that. Or if you want to sawsZall the core that is cool too. I do not know how much time you have on your hands, but you can take a propane torch and undo the sides and just cut the core. Thanks Andy you are always so helpful

His name is Barry Nelson. Many people know him that work on tr3. If you like, I will ask him if I can send you his email.

Steve, if Andy doesn't come through, you might check with Ted at TSi . He just posted on another forum that they bought out a largish collection of TR3 parts, including some reconditioned radiators.

Thanks Randle I apprecaite it. I think Andy has a nice one at home that he is checking on the shipping on.
