Good day, need some help with windshield stanchion guide plates please. I purchased a pair of stanchion guide plates (since mine were missing), that arrived yesterday. Having never seen a pair, it appears that I have purchased the incorrect set. The 60/61 TR3 # TS76230 I have had DZUS fasteners according to the former owner and it appears that because of the S shaped springs or wires on the back of the guide plates I would have the correct pair as I assume the springs catch the DZUS fasteners when installed but here are my questions. With the S shaped springs on the back of the plates how do they mount up against the body. Secondly I assume that the "boss" or raise part of the guide plate that faces out fits into the slot on the windshield stanchion. Mine does not. It is too long and it is more angular in shape rather than an elongated oval. I see photos with the raised boss facing out on cars in books and the parts car on e bay at the moment so I think I know how it should mount on the car body. Maybe I'm missing the obvious or I have the incorrect plates for the stanchions that were with the car when I bought it but not installed. I look forward to your responses. Thanks

Thanks Andy. This is great of you to send along the photos and the thread. It appears that I have the direct bolt on to the cowl as they fit up against the body very well. Mine look like the second stanchion in the 4 stanchion line up in one of the photos. I will be re-assembling this car soon. ( I bought it disassembled) and will try the direct bolt on method. If that works, it looks like I'll have a set of these stanchions for sale sooner or later. Thanks again, I feel better about the ability to fit the windshield now. To make things a little more interesting the former owner was going to install a small half moon windshield so when he painted the car in 1974, he filled the holes. Oh the joy of restoration of a 50 +/- year old car.

You should be able to drill holes from the inside out. Just locate the two weld nuts on the inside and drill from that direction.
