Hi....from Northern Virginia. I have been a car guy for a long time but not to the extent of the project I took on. My father in law had a 1958 TR3 that he bought new, which had seen better days. After years of seeing it under piles of items in the garage I started doing some research and talked him into letting me grab the reins...So I have bought needed replacement metal and have began the task of trying to get body sound.

I am not going for a concourse restoration but a good looking reliable ride.

Any tips on metal replacement, send them my way

I too am in the process of a `57TR3 Small Mouth-Body Off Rest. I`m making mine into a real nice driver cond. car. I did`nt have intentions of a Body Off but frankly; Its much easier to work on the sheet metal that way.

Anyways; Post some pics on the "Triumph Forum" and You`ll surely get all the questions you can think of answered.

Hi There Tr3aguy,

Well; To begin with; The TR3 is off the frame, Drive Train is out, "Everything" is off the car (Ext & Int). I have a ton of parts that I`ve stripped, primed & painted ready for Assy. The Engine & Trans has been detailed & ready for re-installation. Radiator has been boiled out, Painted, ready to go back in. Upholstery is complete & sitting in one of my closets ready to be installed. The Chassis is basically finished with POR15.

I have "New" Floor boards, Inner & Outer Sills going in right now. I`m having a new rear clip mounted. Lots of sheet metal replacement. The entire car has been sand blasted Inside, Outside, Underneath etc. Bonnet, Boot, Wings, Doors were all blasted seperatly.

I guess you get the picture. Its coming along great & quickly. If you`d like to see some pics; Send me your email address & I`ll send some pics.

Toysrrus I sent a PM with my e-mail. Are you replacing the Sills and pans yourself?

Silverghost....I am about 2 1\2 hours north of Stuarts Draft not too far from Dulles Airport. Pass my information on the him if he gets up this way. Our group has a car show next month. It is under events....Britian on the Green.

I will be there but the car will not.
