TR2/3/3A TR3 mystery bolts

On my 58 TR3A there are three small bolts on the lower driver's side engine block. There's one bolt on each side of the fuel pump mount and one between the second and third spark plugs if you look straight down. The bolts are all the same size and all in a straight line. When I rebuilt my engine (which was years ago) I don't even recall seeing those bolts. I noticed that the bolt between the fuel pump assembly and firewall is leaking a small amount of anti-freeze. Does anybody know what the bolts are used for?

It sounds like you might be describing the bolts that locate the cam bearings? Or the oil gallery plugs? In either case, you shouldn't be seeing antifreeze out of them!

If that's the case, then I would assume that there would be anti-freeze in the oil, which there isn't. Also, since it appears to be leaking on the bottom part of the bolt wouldn't it be oil leaking out?

That's the pushrod side of the engine, so any antifreeze in that area almost has to be coming from somewhere else. Maybe the heater return tube is leaking and it's being blown back? Or maybe the core plug in the back of the head is leaking.

The bolt heads you describe do sound like the cam bearing retaining bolts.

Randall, you and Darrell are right they are the cam bearing bolts. After closer inspection I found the core plug on the back of the head is leaking. Thanks for the help.
