Trying to fit tr3 exhaust today .My clamp under trans mount is missing the bolts and rubber bushings that secure to frame on both sides. Are these bushings available separately,so I dont have to buy compltete assembly,or are there other rubber bushings that can be used, like shock top rubber etc. Also are there four rubber bushings, one on each side of rail,or just two,one on each inside rail?
Thanks
Tom

Hey Tom,

I know that The Roadster Factory sells the bushings separately as part number GEX7329 for $2.80 ea. You'll need 4, of course.

I used some rubber grommets from the local hardware store, one on each side of the rail. They work ok if not over-tightened.

Perhaps that is because TRF doesn't actually publish a TR3 catalog! They have several mini-catalogs (eg the "Glovebox Companion"), but have never published a full catalog of everything they carry for TR2-4.

So, the only effective way to deal with them is to get a copy of the factory "Spare Parts Catalogue" and look up the factory part number. Then you can use TRF's database search function to find out if they carry the part, price, etc.
https://secure.zeni.net/trf/

Paper copies of the TR2/3 Spare Parts Catalogue are available from the usual sources (including very occasionally on eBay), or there is a downloadable version at
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B2H2NJt...iYzY4&hl=en
(I do update it from time to time, so let me know if you find any problems with it.)

Thanks Randall. You mentioned that before, and I asker TRF if they had SPC,and they said no,and if I found one they were expensive.
Thanks for the link to download. I like TRF,but did learn that ordering online is not that great because you dont know if a part is backorded until order arrives,so now I just call.
Thanks

At the risk of falling into vendor bashing, this lack of a free and easily accessed catalog is the only reason TRF is my last choice. Since most of the orders for replacement parts now seem to be placed electronically by the end users (us), without the help of a costly human asset on the other end, wouldn't it make sense to put something useful on line? My $.02.

Problem is many items from the Triumph Parts Catalogue (copies available through Barnes and Noble for about $33) are no longer stocked by the Roadster Factory.

That's odd, they show them on sale at the moment. Certainly not cheap at $65 paperback & $80 hardbound, but it's not like them to have a sale on items they don't have in stock.

Also available on CD-ROM (although not for my computer/OS).

It certainly takes some getting used to, but as a Stag owner I definitely appreciate being able to order by factory part number. There is a surprising number of parts that are common with either TR6 or TR7.

And oddly enough, my favorite Stag vendor in the UK operates much the same way; no catalog, just a price list of factory numbers (with a few they've added on their own).

Anyway, I continue to hope that Charles (or more likely one of his sons) will come join us in the 21st century, but it may be teaching an old dog new tricks.

Certainly some parts are NLA, but that's not a catalog problem. If the part was superceded by a newer one, generally that information is in the database.

And in general, I'd have to say that parts availability for TR3 is much better today than it was 30-40 years ago. Also amazingly good compared to some much newer American cars!

Just for example, by 1995, no one made rear shocks for my 1980 Chevy. Oh they listed something that they would sell you, but they wouldn't fit a car with the factory "sport suspension" option.

Randall,

I have to agree with you regarding being able to order by the factory part number. I think that was a great idea on their part!

Howdy Folks,

I just happen to have "2" Catalogs from TRF!! Both of which are geared only to "TR2-TR3":

One is a Full Catalog #RFP523 & the other is a "Mode Sale Catalog":

The "Full Catalog" is dated back to "2007" & the "Sale Catalog" is dated "2010":

I got them "Free" but it did take some time to get them.

Personally; I look thru TRFs Catalog as a Ref. but just occassionally buy something.

Check again, Russ, I think you'll find that RFP523 is a "mini catalog", and lists only a small fraction of the parts they actually carry. For example, it only lists the "Cruciform mounting kit", not the individual washers that Tom was asking about.

But, the full SPC shows the washers
https://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh260...okedsmaller.jpg
which the factory superceded to GEX7329, which TRF has had listed since at least 1999:
42243~GEX7329 SUPPLIED~3.95~~SUP~~~
GEX7329~T24S45G3 GROMMET, EXH & RAD~3.95~~CUR~C~~

Things must have changed. I haven't ordered from TRF for years, but they used to do this all the time. Didn't make sense to me, but I don't understand business.

They definitely had some serious problems for awhile; but have been doing much, much better in recent years. For several years, every invoice I got showed some items on back order, but I don't think I've had any in the past 5 years or so. Certainly not since I started on TS13571L in 2008.

And when I am in a hurry for something, I just note "Please expedite P/N xxx" on the order. If they can't ship it the next day, generally I get a phone call to let me know and ask what I want them to do. In at least one case I recall, John Swauger offered to take the parts I wanted out of a kit; and I had them 2 days later.

Yes, but John is now semi-retired and only in a couple of days per week. Charles' son Albert is now sales manager. There's always uncle Dave!
