Re: front end disassembly. The bump rubber bolt on the lower wishbone must be rusted to the wishbone....many soakings with liquid wrench and hammering does nothing...I'm reluctant to try heat. The manual says to install a 3/8"x6" bolt in place of the bump stop and one on the other side to act as guides when lowering the pan. Others have not mentioned this when doing their diassembly. Is it stricly necessary or can I successfully lower the pan without the guides so I dont have to remove the [censored] bumpstop? Karl

I didn't use them.

What worked for me to get the bump stop off was to turn the steel base (under the bumper) with a pipe wrench.

I didn't use the guide rods. We used the expensive moss threaded rod the goes up the center of the spring. It works pretty well. Removal is easy. Install is pretty easy too, you just have to pull it away from the frame and line it up yourself as it gets to the top.

Karl, be careful with that pipe wrench. Last night I was trying to remove the bump stop from the trailing arm of my TR6. I put the pipe wrench around the steel base of the stop and applied moderate pressure and - snap. Now I have the steel stud of the stop frozen down inside the aluminum trailing arm. Can't get it out and that is holding up the re-assembly of my suspension system.
