On my Tr3 the headlights are fused with a 25 amp fuse (New modern style) this morning going out for a drive headlights work fine, about 10 minutes on the road no lights. The sun was starting to come up and I was only a few minutes from the coffee shop. I replaced the fuse and drove with the lights on The fuse blew again.
When I got home I replaced the fuse again and turned on the lights....30 minutes later they were still on. I do have the alternator in the tr3. I am befuddled. Any ideas?
 
Does the fuse actually look blown (burned in the middle)? Do you have the in-line fuse for the tail and dash lights?

When I had a somewhat similar problem years ago, I eventually found that there was a single strand of wire that had escaped from one of the bullet connectors near the LH horn and was pointing straight down. It would make contact with the body sometimes, and then break loose when I braked hard or touched the wires. If there had been a fuse, it would have blown.
 
Could be the head light plug. If I remember correctly, it has a three way pig tail where the ground and the two hots come close together. Moreover, it is kinda out in the weather and suffers from that. They are riveted in the center and come apart and you can reassemble with a machine screw and nut. Before I took it apart, I would take an ohm meter and bang around in there and see if it shots out.
