TR2/3/3A TR3 Light Switch Wiring

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I am doing some behind-dash re-wiring: For the heavy feed wire going to the headlight switch where two heavy wires attach from opposite sides, do I strip the wire so that the stripped portion goes in the rectangular post about halfway? It seems that is the only way the the two opposing wires will fit. Or is there some other trick for stuffing the 2 thick wires in there (Since this wire carries so much current I want to make sure I do this right).

Here is a picture of how my lightswitch looked when it came apart. After 50 years, I can't really vouch that it is correct, but FWIW...

The short answer is yes, you stuff both those fat wires in the little hole. It is the 'A' post, not the S1 or S2 -- I do not recall if that post has a larger opening but I do know I was able to do it so it can't be real hard.

Actually it's only one "fat" wire. The jumper to the ignition switch is smaller gauge.

And yes, IMO they should both go all the way through the post.

Thanks Randall, Interesting because both the main and jumper wire in mine appear to be 10 AWG. I dont know if that was from the factory or a PO.

But you are right, there is no reason that the jumper could not be smaller, say 14 AWG.
