tr3 leaf spring fulcrum pins

Does anybody have a slick why to get the leaf spring fulcrum pins out on a tr3 without heat? I kinda screwed up and had the frame painted after sand blasting. Anyway it looks like the back of the pin is taped 5/16UF and is there some kind of puller that I could get in there and extract them out. Has anyone removed the pins with a tool other than a big hammer?

Re: tr3 leaf spring fulcrum pins

Are you talking about the shackle pins on the very back end of the leaf spring?

Re: tr3 leaf spring fulcrum pins

I do not remember having any real problems when I removed my springs. You may be able to use a large clamp with socket on one end to press them off.

Re: tr3 leaf spring fulcrum pins

I had problems removing the shackle pins from the back. If memory serves me correctly, I removed the shackle plate and drilled multiple times into the rubber bushings. Then I found a REALLY big rubber mallet and hit the pins out. . .not sexy but it worked for me.

Re: tr3 leaf spring fulcrum pins

Yes they are the pins in the back. I will try your clamp idea and see if that works. I want to be able to get them out and reinstalled with some thing to keep removable(grease) before I put the tub on because the tub kinda traps them. I forgot about a lesson I had learned many years ago with/about leaf spring replacement. You cannot get the spring off if you cannot get the pin out without either lifting the body or cutting it.
