TR3 "J" Bolts for Battery Hold Down

I looking for the "J" bolts for a TR3 battery hold down bracket and need them to be about 4" from the battery box bracket to the retaining bracket, so maybe 5" overall to allow for the wing nut. None of the parts catalogs state how long they are. I do have a few sets in my garage but they are all about 8" long. Does anyone know who sells shorter "J" bolts. Thanks.

The J bolt in the battery hold-down kit I got from TRF is 5 inches. IF need bem can you cut your 8-inchers down?

Thanks, Kevin. Unfortunately, I can't cut the ones's down that I have because the threads down extend down that far. Thank you very much.

Or you could cut them down then use a die to cut new threads on the portion that needs them.

That's what I did, as I needed shorter "J"- bolts when I put in the Optima.

Re: TR3 "J" Bolts for Battery Hold Down

I was talking to a tr3 guy one day and he told me how the wing nut on the original J bolt is brass ÂĽ inch fine and that how he had found a catch of them at car show. I did not think much of it at the time other than this guy really knows tr3. Anyway later I went to large nut and bolt store and sure enough they did not have ÂĽ fine brass wing nuts. I called a bunch more stores and sure enough no ÂĽ brass fine wing nuts. My gal thought it funny and started calling me a wing nut because I did not want the stainless they had, I had to have brass ÂĽ fine wing nuts. So does anyone know where I can get some.
