I just finished putting the interior back together after a complete re-dye using leatherique. This is my first time doing a re-dye and it turned out much better then I had expected for a 50 year old interior. I also added new carpet while everything was out :smile:

Great job!

Thought about doing that with the interior of one of my "projects". PO installed new but don't like the color. Afraid that dye would be sorta like shoe polish. What is the process to seal the color so it won't rub off?

The dye is more like a flexible paint. Once it dries for 48 hours it is on there and I have not noticed any possibility of the dry coming off without using lacquer thinner :smile:
 
Very nice work and tutorial on how to do it as well. You should be very proud and happy with your results.
 
Hi Folks,

Personally, I have used "Color Plus" from a supplier/mfg in Milford, PA. on several occassions.

She is remarkable! She supplies a "Dye" not a paint "Cover-Up". You can order or pick-up std. colors (Blk, Red etc) at a cost of approx. $65.00 (Covers a whole TR3 Int). You can also cut a 1" swatch from under your existing seat and she`ll match it "Perfectly" for that Orig. look. Approx. $125.00 for a custom color.

I would recommend you buy a "Camel Hair Brush" from her for about $10.00 to apply the dye. It does`nt loose bristles & really soaks into the leather or Vinyl.

You simply brush it on in a "Criss/Cross" pattern to get into all the pours. It`ll come out like "Brand New"!

Once "Brushed" on; Let dry overnight & you can`t remove it with a "Brillo" pad!! It actually penetrates the grain of the mat`l.

The color plus sounds interesting, how does it work and cover on vinyl and the fiberboard parts?

Please post the info, I am always looking for other options.
 
Is it a liquid dye, or a spray can product?

I've seen a very top quality "vinyl" spray can product. Once called Mar-Hyde or something like that.

More detail on the process and application please?

The stuff I used is a water based liquid that can be applied with a nylon brush or it can be sprayed from a paint sprayer. I tried the paint sprayer route at first but my wife said I was making a too much of a mess in the garage with over spray so I ended up brushing it on :smile:

It works just as well on leather or vinyl. The "Fiberboard"??? I would ask when you call or send a letter. She has a website but I don`t know what that is. My "Senior Moment" just hit and can`t remember her name either!!!!!!
