thanks, Steve. On holding the light some distance from the top of the res., it is clear that there are external hex heads on the can side of the nipples. The hex sockets are there, but might at most be 1/8, clearly not enough for any useful torque to be applied. In one of my toolboxes, I recall that there is an old deep socket with the outside of the opening seriously ground down. I see a connection.
