TR2/3/3A TR3 Hood Alignment

After receiving my new hood prop and safety latch the fun began. When I used the stock holes that came with the prop rod the latch stuck out too far and would not clear the apron. I did some filing and got it moved back far enough to clear. Now it seems the latch is riding on the bracket and will not allow the hood to close. The sides of the hood fit okay but the middle sticks up maybe an eight of an inch or so. Anyone had this experience?

My new latch did not fit well at all. The latch was mis-located so the hood wouldn't close at all. It was so bad that I even tried to switch the new latch onto the old plate...but my old plate was cracked and I didn't think I could get the rivets out without making a real mess of things. I had to grind the mounting holes to slide the plate aft enough to not hit the apron. There is some adjustment on the spring bracket, to move it away (to the right) from the latch to keep them from binding.

So I guess the short answer is, yes, it was definitely a pain to get it lined up and working right.

My car came with what looked like a replacement latch. I enlarged to holes to give enough adjustment.
