TR2/3/3A TR3 heater reinstall problems

Guys,

Just rebuilt my heater and brackets and everything looks great. I'm having tough time refitting it with new hoses cramming it to the firewall. Anyone have any good tips or a process that has worked well with refitting...my hoses are all in the front towards the firewall, and there is just no room. I don't know whether to install the bracket without the heater or fit the entire assembled unit to the bracket and try to squeeze in? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

All I can say is there is no room I used regular heater hose and crammed it in there. they are unbeliveably crimped but, it works really well. I pushed the heater up in and had some one else start the nut inside the engine bay and then got the rest of the bracket started and tightened them down.

There is "just enough" room, no more!
I agree with Eric. You really need a second person to help until you get the nut started on the engine side of the bulkhead. Also attach your hoses to the heater before you try to fit it. I used the ribbed hose like original from TRF. As you can see we have no kinks or extreme bends. The standard hose you used may be too stiff. Another "trick" is to solder copper elbows to the end of the heater inlet tubes, but if the heater has been installed correctly this should not be necessary.

Good luck.

I agree, just went through that knuckle busting, hand skinning operation. I had it in and out three or 4 times before it finally settled in there. So keep on mushing you'll get it.

Gotcha...Frank, the pictures are, as they say, worth a thousand words...thanks for sharing. I'll muster some strength and optimism up again this evening and attack with a plan. Thanks again
