TR2/3/3A TR3 heater install picture needed

That changes everything! Afraid I don’t do alternators...but remember LED’s are polarity sensitive, so it could just be the leads are reversed.

The LED's in the dash all light up.

Dick --- Thanks for your help with all your responses; that I will attempt to correct today??

Is the ignition light also a LED?

This is a sketch of my wiring diagram. 60 Amp Alternator Negative ground. I have used the Regulator box as a connection point by gutting it and linking D, A and A1

Ignition and direction lights are regular bulbs. Thanks for the sketch. I, too, gutted the regulator box and used as connection point.

Will attack tomorrow, I'm sure I will probably post some follow-up questions??

Thanks, Dick

David,

I have melted the white wire twice from the ignition switch to A3 ? Should that be a heavier gauge wire? I just used the smaller gauge wire I had left over.

Dick

Sounds like something is pulling too much power or you have a short. It should only supply a few things. Fuel gauge, wiper motor and the indicators. If that is all that you have connected to A3 you could try disconnecting things.
Probable the wipers first as there is a chance that is wired incorrectly. It took me several attempts to get the wipers wired up right.

David, Your sketch jogged my feeble 80 year old cognitive memory.I have installed a DynoAlt and was planning on purchasing one of their Dummy Regulators. As I recall, if you continue using your old regulator, after making the wiring changes, you should gut the insides? Is this correct? I forgot to do that. Could that be a reason I am melting the white wire?

Dick

John,

I installed the "Dummy Regulator" and rewired everything according to the instructions. All the lights work now, including the ignition. Engine turns over fine with starter button.
I did run a double black wire from the ground post to the thumb screws on the tach and speedo, still no lights? new LED bulbs are good?

Dick

Sorry Dick I must have missed your posts about the regulator box mods when you use it as an Alternator junction box.
I believe this is a Randall mod.

David,

I have sorted out my regulator problems. I have a heater question.

I have the two wires from the heater connected to ground and to the switch. Where does the wire from the second connector on the switch go? One drawing shows it going to A2.

Dick

A2 is correct (switched and fused). The battery side of the fuel gauge is the same circuit.
I added a buss bar so I wouldn't have to find places for accessories, etc.My BussBar .jpg
The left two sourced from A2, the right two from A3 (always hot)

I have the wire that is shown as going to A2 wired to a relay. The relay is powered on by the ignition switch so if I forget to turn the heater off I do not come back to a dead battery. The relay is use to supply power to the heater and a few other things when the ignition is on. They are all fuse with modern fuses.
