Hi All,

Quick question. Although I am not a concourse guy, could you please tell me the correct finish on the bottom vents/bottom for a TR3 heater? I think that it might be a wrinkle finish but I am not sure.

Just working on the heater refurb now so thought I would ask before I paint.

Cheers,
M. Pied Lourd

Crinkle I think - Frank did a really nice writeup on this a while ago - I think it is in the BCF wiki?

Edit: yep, here it is: Heater Restoration

Thanks Randy,

Was looking at that earlier and actually sent Frank an email at the address on the Wiki page but it was undeliverable.

Looks kinda like a pebbly appearance in Franks photos...I have an idea what I am going to do...won't tell you until I do it though cause you will think that I am nuts

Will post some pics in the "making progress thread in the next day or two (I hope)

Cheers,
M. Pied Lourd

Sorry Paul...no red

Sorry about the email address. I changed ISP's to Verizon. You can contact me anytime at trtags@verizon.net.

The correct finish for the top and bottom covers is black crinkle outside surface , gloss back everywhere else. I used powder coat, but rattle can paint is fine.

Note: Don't put too much paint on the heater matrix (core) or it will limit heater function.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the response.

Good to know. For the core I have a special Radiator Black from Eastwood that I will be using sparingly. I am going to use something a little different top and bottom bu I think that the effect will be ok. Will post some pics for critique when I am done :cooler:
