TR2/3/3A TR3 Headlight Wiring Question

I've got the new headlights in the TR3. I cant seem to remember where the 3rd wire, the black one, goes. Is it the ground?
If so where does it go? Thanks.

Yes it is the ground. It can go anywhere you want as long as you have a good connection to the body.

There is a ledge one each side, just behind the horns (and under the other headlight connections). The original configuration has a clip screwed to the ledge, which accepts the ground wire from both the headlight and turn signal/marker light on that side.

But like Dan said, they can go anywhere. Mine are routed to a ring terminal under one of the horn mounting bolts.

Ha, we seemed to remember little clips installed but weren't sure. Now I'll need to find those little things

British Wiring has them listed in their catalog (PN 990), but ISTR hearing they no longer stocked them. My originals broke, which is why I have the grounds wired to the horn bolts.

When they were NLA some years ago I made one from the base of an old tail lamp.

If you look closely you can figure out 'which one has the Toni?':
