tr3 head light switch

Hi all well I am sorting or shorting the wiring out on my tr3 and I am wondering the best source for a head light switch and a control head harness. I kinda favor Moss because I am on the West coast also. Does anyone know if Moss’s control head harness is an easy installation and if their quality on switches is the same as the other two of the Big three. This last harness I bought on Ebay (I do not recommend that) and it has been twenty years since I purchased a switch.

Re: tr3 head light switch

Steve,
the reproduction headlight switches that the big 3 sell are
reliable for what we use our cars for these days. (How many times a year do you have occasion to turn on your head/side lights?)
BUT, they are a lesser quality than the original Lucas side/light switches.
For one thing, you can dis-assemble the original ones, clean them up,do minor repairs and bench test them. Not so with the reproduction ones.

Re: tr3 head light switch

Frank, how do you get them apart? Pull that little ball and spring out then just push the guts out to the front. I thought they would come apart somehow. I had a couple of old ones and one smoked and the other had no tail lights. Perhaps they are corroded. Anyways I ordered one from Moss and it should be here soon. I actually drive some at night, but not like I use to.

Re: tr3 head light switch

The little ball & spring needs to come out, but the main dis-assembly is accomplished by un-soldering the 5mm nut at the back end of the main shaft. Everything will then come apart but be careful to keep the position and sequence of the parts.
Counting the nut, ball, spring etc there are TEN internal removable parts.
