TR2/3/3A TR3 gas cap question

If anybody has an old gas cap off a TR3 handy please take a look and see if I have the spring positioned correctly. I don't remember the ends of the spring sticking out before I took it apart to have it chrome plated. The button work as it should the way it is.

Thanks sp53 it looks like it might be in the wrong place. I think I have to much tension on the spring.
