TR2/3/3A TR3 Exhaust System Resonator

Aloha All,

Recently I scrapped my exhaust system on a speed bump (more like a tank trap) and dented the resonator. Now it is cracked and leaking. I wondering if can I replace the resonator with a piece of straight pipe as a short term fix. I would like to eventual replace the exhaust with new stainless steel system.

Does any one have an idea of how loud a TR3 is without a resonator?

Safety fast,
Dave

Moss has a pipe that is the right size and pre bent that replaces the resonator on TR3s. I have one on mine, it makes the car sound better for sure. Not louder just a better tone. I didn't see any performance gains.
The cost is $24.95 and the sound is worth every cent.

Aloha,

Thanks for the responses. I stopped by a muffler shop today on the way to work to see if they could make a pipe piece for me. The guy who has fabricated parts for me in the past, said he'd have to put the car on the rack to check. In about fifteen minutes he had cut out the resonator and welded in a new section of pipe and I was on my way. The sound is not changed on easy acceleration and cruising, it gets a little loud on rapid acceleration, not unlike a motorcycle.

Safety fast,
Dave
