TR2/3/3A TR3 Door Scuff Panels

Here is a pic of the door scuff panels that came with the car. They looked original, but as I look at other pictures of cars, it appears they are not.

Does anybody know the story behind these? Were they common, or just something my PO found?

From my often unreliable memory, those are after market (Amco?) and not ST parts. Amco accessories were quite common. Tom
 
Yes, aftermarket available back in the day.

I never saw much need for them... if you just ram your knee into the pointy bit at the end of the cowl your foot will clear the door quite nicely (and you won't be fretting about a little scuffing).

PS - Those sill plate are also aftermarket accessories.

Thanks...! I think I'll leave off the scuff plates, but I like the sill plates. They polished up really nicely.
