FWIW, I have seen one installed in a TR3A before. Only seen one though.

WiscTR: No, this is NOT an option that was offered by ST for their TR range, but could have been available in one of their other models, Herald, Standard Sedan, etc., thus a ligitimate Stanpart number. However, Lucas, Smiths and others offered clocks that could be added by an owner or dealer. Interesting note, these modern clocks have quartz movements, and work from the car's 12vdc. However, the original clocks had main-spring movements plus a small 12 volt motor to periodically wind the clock main spring.

This is a 1958 TR3A brochure and if you look closely you will see a list of available options. The options varied from 1954 through 1961 when the TR-4 was introduced. However, a clock was never an official option but would have been available from the dealer. I have seen sidescreen TR's with clocks mounted in the center of the glove box door!
 
Interesting info! I was out looking at the dash yesterday and was wondering where a clock could possibly been mounted. The glovebox was my concusion too...as anywhere else would hit your knees, the shifter, or require loosing another gage. The clock on Ebay doesn't look like it would be very useful for rallying anyway with no second hand.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of a Stanpart number? Regardless, there's nothing about time-of-day clocks being a "factory" option in the Herald range, at least not going by listings in the Spare Parts Catalogues. Of course, dealers and aftermarket suppliers were free to offer things that the factory didn't!
 
If I recall correctly, the clock that I saw on a 3 had been put in the panel to the left of the steering wheel. If I see the car again, I will be sure to take a picture of it.
