TR2/3/3A TR3 carb question

Making sloooow progress on the TR3, and getting ready to swap the current TR4 engine out for a replacement TR4 engine and was wondering the pro/con of just using a set of rebuild ZS carbs rather than rebuilding the SU's?

After rebuilding my ZS carbs they are easy compared to the SU's.

I'm more interested in getting her on the road again than strict originality (hence the TR3 engine going back in).

Any comments/ideas?

Thanks!

It's your car, and if the ZS's fit your plan to get the car on the road, I say go with them. You will of course, get the comment "Those carbs aren't right" every time you open up the front, so you can gauge if it bothers you much and always put on SU's at that point.

I also recall that Frank already broke this taboo when he drove his test setup around with ZS's hanging off the side - so it is allowed!

Hi Randy - I'm not too worried about people wanting to open the hood - the fear of tetanus usually scares them away...

Seriously though - they should bolt right up the manifold, right? Any linkage issues?

Tom-

I haven't bolted them on, but I'm pretty sure if you use a long runner TR4 manifold you would be fine. For that matter, a short runner TR3 manifold I think would work too with its bellcrank at the front, but the long runner is considered better for performance and you won't have interference issues with the short ZS carbs.
