So long as you can safely rig up a fuel supply and an electrical supply for the ignition, there's no reason I can think of why you shouldn't run the engine in an otherwise bare frame.
Yes thanks guys that is what I was thinking also. I am not really worried about the electrical, mainly oil pressure and engine noise. Even the temperature is really not a huge factor as long as the water and oil do not mix. It has been my experience that the temperature will not hold for long unless that thing is moving anyway. I have heard of people that have oil coolers and electric fans that can idle their tr3 until they run out of gas. (Maybe north Alaska) My 66 Ford straight six pick up would, but I doubt if a TR is going too. Anyway talking and writing about it helps me make my next move.
