What is the popular method when staring an engine on a frame/body off restoration? Is it to run the engine with the body tub off or wait until the tub is on?

...and several reasons why you should. Besides things that would be easier to tweak or fix w/o the body on -- you've gotta be anxious to hear it run.

Yes thanks guys that is what I was thinking also. I am not really worried about the electrical, mainly oil pressure and engine noise. Even the temperature is really not a huge factor as long as the water and oil do not mix. It has been my experience that the temperature will not hold for long unless that thing is moving anyway. I have heard of people that have oil coolers and electric fans that can idle their tr3 until they run out of gas. (Maybe north Alaska) My 66 Ford straight six pick up would, but I doubt if a TR is going too. Anyway talking and writing about it helps me make my next move.
