TR2/3/3A TR3 Blanking plate

Any one know the comm# for the last cars with right side blanking plate, (to switch from left hand drive to right hand drive)

I would have to agree with the post TS60000 cars. All the the post 60000 cars I've seen in our club have no plate, whereas the pre 60000 cars have the plate. I know this is not definitive, but this is what I've seen. It makes sense, because of all the other body panel changes that were made at this point.

And I'll disagree! I've got a '59 w/o the blanking plate. Of most cars I've seen, '58s have the plate, and '59's don't...generally speaking.

TS 47905 L does not have the blanking plate.

I did a little survey once and found there did not appear to be an absolute change point. Rather, there seemed to be a period where the body might or might not have had the plate.

My 58 TS/41804-L has the plate and my 59 TS/55585-L doesn’t have the plate.

Since TR3B's (TSF and TCF) were only made for export, I understand that all of them were made for LHD only and none of them had blanking plates. Since all prior could be sold in the home market, I understood that blanking plates were from time to time installed. Piggott (Original TR2-3) confirms that many later TR3A's (after No. 60001?) and all TR3B's did not have blanking plates.

Unfortunately, the one Bill Piggott book I have makes no mention of this. Oddly, neither does my factory Spare Parts Catalogue (4th edition, I think, and showing various TS60001 and future changes from my 3rd edition copy, which doesn't show those). And I do recall in the past seeing at least one pre-60000 car, appearing to be original, with no blanking plate (but also with the other post-60000 features, so who knows WHAT the story on that car was?).

The mystery continues....
