TR2/3/3A TR3 at estate sale in Chapel Hill NC

I agree. It definitely looked like a good candidate for restoration.

I had no idea this was for sale so close to home. It is probably 20 minutes from where I live and coincientally I was in nearby Carrboro working on Mini brakes this past Saturday.

Several of the items on the estate web site are marked as "Sold". I did not see a "Sold" bar across any of the TR3 pictures. You may want to try contacting the agent with a silent bid. Perhaps the car is still available and could be yours!
 
Boy, if I had the time and space, I'd love to take a crack at restoring that one. I would check out the frame and steering pretty carefully. Most of the rust looks cosmetic - at least from the pictures. I hope someone from this group picks up that car and keeps us informed about the progress.
