Getting ready to fit the floor pans that I removed from the wrecked 4A to my 4. One of these pans had the rubber plug at the jack hole, but the other had a metal plug instead of the rubber. I had previously noted this but gave it no more than a passing thought. Well, I just removed it and and found that the PO had replaced the rubber with the lid from a 1 pint paint can. It fit perfectly, was tight and weather proof, and eaisly removed. Who knew? Did You?
No - I had never noticed. The floor plugs in my 1958 TR3A were there when I bought my TR 51 years ago and they are still there. How would I have known about alternative options. But I have to admit that somewhere, some guy with your car was a genius and solved that problem with the lid. And this way, he saved having to buy one for a dollar or so.
