TR3 3/8" belt

I finally decided to go with electric fan for my TR3,and just recieved my Moss eleminator Kit with 3/8" belt.Good news is the belt fits my Kubota alternator pulley, but this sure looks like a small V-belt.
Has anyone been running this set-up,and have any experience with belt life?
Thanks
Tom

Re: TR3 3/8" belt

I don't have the Moss eliminator kit, but as I understand it, belt size mostly relates to power handling capacity and minimum pulley size. If it is too small, you will probably know about it immediately as the alternator is a very non-linear load.

I had some problems many years ago with a setup (on a non-LBC) that couldn't deliver enough torque to the alternator, and it would either work fine or squeal horribly right after the engine started. Putting the proper (larger) pulley on the alternator solved the problem.

Re: TR3 3/8" belt

Thanks Randall.I probably wont be running fo awhile yet,so will report results after some run time. The kit installs nice, although the 975 furnished belt length is a little long. The belt is metric SPA type which from what I read on the net should be fine.Centers for the crank, pump and alt. make a nice triangle,so I should be ok with good alternator belt/pulley contact.
I thought this was a popular kit ,but maybe not as many out there as I thought.
Thanks
Tom
