TR5/TR250 TR250 wire wheels, 60 or 72 spoke?

My TR 250 came with 60 spoke wire wheels on it. Is that correct. Car was an all original 45k mile car. Was thinking about putting 72 spokes it. I have a set of NOS G800 redline Goodyears I have been saving to use as well.

Marvin, I don't know how the 60's got on there, didn't everything '65 on have the 72 spokes?
The G800's are gold, where did you come up with them, I have one as a spare in the TR6. I always thought they looked like a mud and snow tire and the new Michelin's S/M tires are real close.
Oh, if the 72's are not stock then they should be, much nicer looking and more stable.

Both Piggott and the SPC only list 60 spoke wire wheels for TR250.

Aloha Marv,

Page 12 of the Bentley TR250/6 reprint has a 60-spoke wheel in Fig 32, which shows how to tighten the wheel retaining nut with the special wrench (and a lead hammer). Note the distinctive TR250 bonnet stripe in the extreme upper right! I guess they could have grabbed a TR4A wheel for the shot, but it is a redline tire...

Happy New Year all - Jeff

Also have a very late TR4a, it has 60 spokes. I'm thinking I will put the G800s on the the 60 spoke wheels for show and run the 72s with some 60x205s.

Wayne, the 250 is ready for paint, hopefully next week. The G800 are new spares I have taken out of TR6s. Most are still mounted on new TR6 rims.

Happy New Year and Roll Tide.

OK, out of TR6's, Marvin, you are the envy of all us city folks with nowhere to put all the cars we find. Great story and you ain't getin mine, stay away.LOL

Wayne

Sorry about being wrong on the wheels, 74 and going south, well not as far as Al.
