TR5/TR250 TR250 Hood Stripe Decals Available?

The hood stripe on my TR250 is missing and I heard that someone makes silver decals for the TR250 hood stripe? Anyone no who the supplier is? I know it's not Moss Motors. The local body shop says it will be MUCH easier and cheaper to use a decal instead of paint.

Thanks,
Steve

NO! A decal is not correct, I have had my 250 for over 20 years. The factory original stripe was always painted and not a decal. We painted ours and then cleared over this. Still liiks good after all this time.

Yes, I know a decal isn't correct. But all the body shops are quoting me very high prices stating they have to repaint (or was it clearcoat?) over the entire hood and both fenders at the same time as painting the stripe on. They all are saying a decal is the way to go and that the difference is not all that noticeable, if a high quality decal is used.

High prices I understand! But I suspect that, the TR250 being what it is, that the price is worth it in terms of resale value. The highest quality decal in the world can still chip or peel or crack much more readily than would a quality paint job! Look at any older car with "factory" original pinstripe tape, or something like the old Ford Country Squires with their di-noc imitation woodgrain panels, etc., etc.!

I did a little search, try contacting these guys.

If it were my car (depending on the condition) I would have it painted on and clear coated.

Curious, how much do the shops want to paint?
