TR2/3/3A TR2 Tub

Finally started drilling on the TR2 tub. I have decided that the only usable body parts are the front scuttle and left rear wheel liner. The front inner fenders (valences), may be repairable, but not easily.

I attempted to price building her up from my 4 good parts, but see that many are listed as not available from the big 3. Company in UK offers complete new body...at 25k Lbs. I think that's like $50k shipped to US. Ouch!

So, anybody got a spare tub laying around? I'm leaning towards parting the old girl out.

You may know all this, but a small mouth TR3 body tub would also suit, as virtually the same as a 1955 short door TR2, except for a few extra holes at the front of the apron.

Or even an earlier TR3A tub (no raised hinge plinths) can be adapted by welding up the rear apron turn indicator holes, rear Triumph badge holes, door handle holes, and making holes in the inner fenders for the longer TR2/3 turn indicator lights. An unwanted TR3A front apron can be sold off

An early TR2 tub would need the cable pull hood brackets ground off the inner fenders, plus short door bottom rocker panels fitted.

Despite the work, TR2's are becoming so rare it would be a shame to lose it.

John,

I hope you can find a donor tub!

Talked to Marv...he's got everything! Anyway, I'll be working with him for a while to see if we can get the old girl some parts, or see if she'll be giving parts to another old girl...

Its taken longer than I expected, I have it in primer, body metal was good but not a straight panel on the car. Should have it painted in the next month or two. I believe it will turn out nicely. Blue with a tan interior, tan top.

Hey Marv,

I was digging through past posts and saw you picked up Banjo's old TR2 basket case...you still got that one too?

Also saw Mark Gibson had a '2, but he disappeared in May of '06. Anybody know what happened to him, or his TR2?

Banjo's car went to England last fall. Tony Sheach ( rally car driver) got it. Marks' car I'm not sure about it. I bought a long door 2 a couple of years back but don't remember the details.
