TR2/3/3A TR2 Dimensions

Thinking about going up this weekend to pick up the newest addition to my box of parts collection.

Would like to fit it into a 12 ft UHaul enclosed trailer. The inside dimension is 11'7". Does anyone know what the length of a 2 is sans bumpers?

The listed dimension is about 12'6" but that inlcudes bumpers. My guess is I will lack an inch or two.

I could tilt the main body and gain a few inches, maybe the limiting factor will be the length of the frame. It is completely apart, so there is some flexibility in packing but not with the frame.

Anyone have a tape, a 2, and a helper to cipher some dimensions? The pieces and parts are not readily accessible by the owner and I have to start coming up with a plan.

Help? :confuse:

Bumpers on a 3 are barely for and aft of the body. 12 foot enclosed is just too short. Maybe if you find a v-nosed enclosed trailer the TR can be squeezed in but I doubt you'll have luck. Try for a 14 or just put it on a car hauler. My 3A came home on an open U-Haul car hauler. The inside of the tires barely rubbed on the wide tracks but it fit. Good luck.

I just went and measured mine for you. My front bumper is off and I used my 90 degree square - to be square with the floor. My 1958 TR3A measures 145" with no bumpers or bumperettes on the car. You can gain another inch if you remove the chromed light body for the rear licence plate light.

I just measured the frame on my TR3. I have the body on, but no wings. If you take off the front and rear bumper brackets, the frame itself measures about 135"...that's a little conservative, as I was eyeballing a little. It's probably closer to 133".

Thanks for the input all.

The car is completely disassembled so there is a chance. The trailer is 139 inches so the frame should fit. The body, without wings etc. should go in, in some fashion I hope.

I will look for a larger trailer but due to the possibility of inclement weather I need to keep it covered. The body pieces have been stripped but no primer or other coating.
